It is each student's responsibility to pay his or her tuition, fees and other charges by published late after dates, or as otherwise provided. In some specific cases these fees can be waived. A student may appeal a late payment or late registration penalty only if they received incorrect information from a Texas A&M University faculty or staff member that directly resulted in their failure to meet their payment deadline. Failure to access and review your statement from your TAMU email account is not a valid reason to request a waiver.
The following is the procedure for requesting a penalty waiver:
- Complete the Late Payment Penalty and Late Registration Charge Waiver Request form.
- Attach a signed letter from the faculty or staff member involved on department letterhead.
- Return completed documentation to Student Business Services by email to loans@tamu.edu.
Due to staffing and time constraints, verbal appeals of late payment and registration penalties will not be accepted. Requests will be reviewed and information confirmed. Late fees must be paid and will be refunded if the requested waiver is approved.
